The Story of Cain and Abel

Cain and Abel, the first sons of Eve and Adam, are told as a story of sibling jealousy. Cain is the first child of Adam and Eve. For this reason, his parents pay a lot of attention to him. But this interest lasted until Cain was born. Cain and Abel worship God together all the time. But this does not last long. Abel is completely docile and good-natured. This enables him to attract the attention of his mother. But seeing this, Abel secretly resents his brother and is jealous of him. Cain is busy farming while Abel is a shepherd.

As time passed, Cain’s heart grew more greedy and his jealousy increased. Cain took Abel to the field where he was engaged in farming. Here Abel and Cain started to work together. Taking advantage of Abel’s work, Cain takes a stone in his hand and starts hitting his brother’s head. As a result of the successive blows, Abel died on the spot.

Cain then watches his brother whom he had killed on the spot. Abel’s body is covered in blood. His anger at his brother suddenly gives way to regret. Cain tries to cope with his guilt, but he feels bad and becomes known as the first sinner God turns away from.

Cain became worse and worse day by day. Unable to bear it, he leaves and walks away, hoping that one day his sins will be forgiven. Cain leaves to leave everything behind and settles in the land of Nod. He wants to leave everything behind and live a new life and he is constantly seeking God’s forgiveness.

This story is considered to be an indication of how jealousy and anger do not progress and how much evil can result and lead to regrets. People who experience jealousy between siblings are expected to take lessons from this story.
